Candy Table

Origin: Artist's studio. The size is approximately 23" diagonal. These tables are so wonderful. I started creating these about the same time I made the chairs. They are great companions or as individual pieces of art. The overall shapes and size of these tables is similar but the designs are all unique. This table is called a candy table because it is reminiscent of the pulled taffy I remember being made in Catalina Island when I visited as a child. The process of making these custom poured colors is also stretched while molten at temperatures up to 2400 degrees. All of
the colors on the surface of this table were laid over the rainbow dichroic glass base (That's one huge piece of dichroic glass!), in their cooled off state. When heated up to 1500 degrees all the colors are formed into one new piece. In the case of this particular glass table I cooked the glass again to melt in additional lamp worked glass pieces. This time I didn't melt all the pieces into a flat form. The result is that this table top has flat and slightly raised surfaces. It has plenty of sections that are flat for your favorite drink and enough sections that are raised so that the surface has exquisite depth and texture.
A great conversation piece. These are done in very limited numbers
